Life After College

Dear Students,

What I'm about to write might sound strange so early in the academic year, but hear me out: Now's a great time to work on plans for your life post-college.Career planning is one of those things that many of us put off because it's stressful and confusing, or because we just don't know where to begin. But, as with other challenges you may face while in CNS, you don't have to go it alone, and there are excellent resources available here to guide you. Having seen many CNS students successfully navigate the career search process, I can assure you: you got this.We happen to have two excellent career-exploration opportunities coming up next week:

  • Tuesday is the College of Natural Sciences Technology & Science Career Fair. This in-person event at the Recreational Sports Center will feature over 200 employers looking to hire candidates for full-time and internship positions in computer science, mathematics, actuarial science, data science, biology, chemistry, physics and more. It's a great opportunity whether you are actively looking for a job or internship or just want to learn more about career pathways.
  • And a week from Friday, there will be a presentation on careers in conservation from UT alum Dr. Nikhil Advani (B.S. '04, Ph.D. '12), who is the Director for Climate, Communities and Wildlife at the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). Dr. Advani will talk about how his time at UT prepared him for a career in conservation, his path to his current position and the different kinds of jobs one can pursue.

Career-related events, opportunities and resources are available to you as a CNS student throughout the year. Connect with CNS Career Services and the CNS Health Professions Office for more.
