Alumni and Friends to be Inducted into Hall of Honor

Three College of Natural Sciences alumni and friends were selected for induction into the college's 2022 Hall of Honor. David Booth, Richard Hinojosa and James Truchard received the distinction for their outstanding career accomplishments and lasting commitment to the college. They join four additional inductees from previous years who were unable to receive their honors in person due to the pandemic.

PORT ARANSAS - As one of the five scientists who have been selected for the Gulf Research Program of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine's Early-Career Research Fellowship in Human Health and Community Resilience, Kristin Nielsen, assistant professor at The University of Texas Marine Science Institute, will use her expertise to investigate how climate change is altering the potential for dietary contaminant exposure in remote Alaskan communities.

​When they joined the Luminators stream of the Freshman Research Initiative, alumni Tyler King, Alex Bard, Joe Espinoza, Desmond Schipper and Ohri Esarte Palomero all expected to have experiences in chemistry research that would serve them well in their future. What they may not have predicted was that they all would contribute to a paper that the Journal of Coordination Chemistry singled out for special recognition for being among its highest quality articles of the year.
